Fellowship Awards
In conjunction with our partner Thrombosis Canada, we are accepting applications for two fellowship competitions:
The purpose of the Fellowship Awards is to provide financial support for highly qualified, promising fellows to allow them to pursue research training in thromboembolism at a Canadian Centre.
Quick Facts:
- Award amount: maximum of $50,000 (CAD) in salary support.
- Training must be at a Canadian centre & related to venous thromboembolism.
- Applicants must be clinicians pursuing research training.
- The Thrombosis Canada-CanVECTOR Fellowship is focused on knowledge translation and/or clinical outcomes research.
- Applicants can apply for both awards using the same form.
- Application deadline: Monday, January 20, 2025.

Research Start-up Awards
The purpose of the Research Start-up Awards is to help trainees achieve their research objectives through start-up operating funds for a research project or preliminary / pilot work to strengthen their research, including services, materials, or supplies.
Quick Facts
- Award Amount: Up to $2,500 (CAD) in research support.
- Eligible applicants must be trainees (medical student, resident, graduate student, fellow) conducting research under the supervision of a CanVECTOR member.
- Priority will be given to applicants who have not previously received a Research Start-up Award.
- Application deadline: Monday, January 20, 2025.

Pilot Study Funding Opportunity
The purpose of this funding opportunity is to build research capacity related to VTE and to enable CanVECTOR scientists to collect pilot data that will inform the conduct of larger multicentre clinical trials and increase the ability to attract external peer-reviewed funding
Quick Facts
- Award amount: A total of $150,000 is available to fund one or more pilot studies.
- Studies are eligible if they are designed to assess the feasibility of a planned full-scale (definitive) randomized controlled trial (RCT) that will be conducted at multiple CanVECTOR sites.
- The research focus is to be related to prevention, diagnosis, or treatment of venous thromboembolism or its long-term effects.
- At least one of the investigators must be a CanVECTOR member.
- Application deadline: Monday, January 20, 2025.
