TORONTO, ON, October 25, 2024 – At this year’s CanVECTOR Annual Conference, we were proud to announce Maddy Hill, Clinical Research Coordinator at the Ottawa Hospital Research Institute (OHRI), as the 2024 Terri Schnurr Research Coordinator of the Year. This distinguished award acknowledges Maddy’s exemplary contributions to thrombosis research, dedication to ethical standards, and commitment to fostering a collaborative and inclusive research environment.
Over the past year, Maddy has demonstrated outstanding leadership and mentorship within the thrombosis research team, actively training new staff and emphasizing ethical research practices. Known for their innovative approaches, Maddy has notably enhanced patient recruitment strategies, ensuring accessibility and inclusivity for all eligible participants. Maddy’s impact extends beyond their role in thrombosis. They are a committed member of OHRI’s Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) council, promoting best practices in clinical research and fostering a positive, inclusive work environment.
This past year, Maddy co-presented on patient consent in different languages at a CanVECTOR Clinical Investigation Group (CIG) meeting, underscoring their dedication to ethical standards and patient advocacy.
