Announcing the next CanVECTOR Co-Lead of the Training, Mentoring, and Early Career Development platform

08-12-2022

The Network is pleased to announce that following a Network-wide Call for Nominations and vote, Dr. Miriam Kimpton has been elected as the incoming CanVECTOR Co-Lead of the Training, Mentoring, and Early Career Development platform. Dr. Kimpton will replace Dr. Leslie Skeith - the network's newly elected Co-Lead of the Clinical Trials & Shared Platforms platform - as Co-Lead of the platform to work alongside platform Co-Lead Dr. Sudeep Shivakumar.

Dr. Kimpton is an Assistant Professor in the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Ottawa and Associate Scientist at the Ottawa Hospital Research Institute / Ottawa Hospital. Dr. Kimpton is a past recipient of the CanVECTOR-Thrombosis Canada Research Fellowship Award, a former Chair of the CanVECTOR Trainee Council, and winner of a CanVECTOR Pilot Trials Funding competition for the AIRPORT-MPN pilot study - a multi-centre pilot randomized controlled trial on feasibility for the thromboprophylaxis of patients with JAK2-positive myeloproliferative neoplasms. Dr. Kimpton is now serving as the Co-Chair of the CanVECTOR 2022 Annual Conference planning committee.

Dr. Kimpton has exemplified the importance of mentorship in research and the purpose of the platform, and we are thrilled to welcome Dr. Kimpton in this new role to help guide the platform forward.

Thank you to all applicants for putting their names forward for this position. Our success and growth as a network wouldn't be possible without members' interest and involvement in all aspects of the network.

The Network would like to extend our gratitude to Dr. Skeith, for her leadership in the Co-Lead position since 2019, as well as Dr. Zach Leiderman, who stepped in as interim Co-Lead of the Training, Mentoring, & Early Career Development platform while Dr. Skeith was on leave. Thank you for your continued engagement with the Network!

Thank you

Agnes Lee, MD, MSc, FRCPC
CanVECTOR SSC Elections Chair
