Jessica Emed has worked as a Clinical Nurse Specialist with the thrombosis team at the Jewish General Hospital since 2004. She is also a Faculty Lecturer at McGill University’s Ingram School of Nursing.

Ms. Emed’s research interests include patients’ and families’ experiences with venous thromboembolism (VTE) as well as patient awareness and education around VTE. Her peer-reviewed publications in these areas have led to awards from the Oncology Nursing Forum and the Journal of Vascular Nursing. She has been actively involved in patient safety initiatives aimed at preventing VTE, including policy development, organization of awareness campaigns and speaking in CIHR-funded Café Scientifiques, development of patient education materials, and collaboration on national thromboprophylaxis audits. Her team’s efforts were recognized with the 2010 Safer Healthcare Now! Hospital VTE Prevention Hospital Award.
