Dr. Shivakumar is a clinical hematologist and an associate professor in the Department of Medicine at Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia. His roles include Director of the Thrombosis and Anticoagulation Program and Director of Postgraduate Medical Education in the Division of Hematology. He also serves as the Chair of the Thrombosis Canada Fellowship Committee and as Clinical Advisor to the Nova Scotia Provincial Blood Coordinating Program.
His clinical focus is on the treatment of deep vein thrombosis and pulmonary embolism, and he has completed subspecialty training in Thrombosis from the University of Ottawa after completing his residency training in Hematology at Dalhousie University. His research interests include venous thromboembolism, malignancy-associated thrombosis and medical education.
