Clive Kearon, MB, MRCPI, FRCPC, PhD

Dr. Kearon trained as a respirologist and obtained a PhD from McMaster University for studies relating to respiratory and exercise physiology.  He is currently a Professor in the Department of Medicine, an Associated Member in the Department of Clinical Epidemiology and Biostatistics, Program Director of the Clinician Investigator Program, and holds the Jack Hirsh Professorship in Thromboembolism, all at McMaster University. A Career Investigator of the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario (HSFO), he has also received two awards from the CIHR for providing mentorship in the design and conduct of randomized controlled trials, and the International Society on Thrombosis and Haemostasis’ 14th Biennial Investigator Recognition Award.

Dr. Kearon's research focuses on clinical trials designed to optimize the diagnosis and treatment of venous thromboembolic disease. The HSFO, the CIHR, and the National Institutes of Health fund Dr. Kearon’s research. He is lead author of the current and part two editions of American College of Chest Physicians’ CHEST guidelines for the treatment of venous thromboembolism.
